Blogging with Global2

Blogging allows you to create your own personal web space (web log or blog) and publish to the internet as often as you like without needing to know computer programming. Blogging can be a great way to communicate and collaborate as it provides opportunities for visitors to leave comments.

Global2 is the Department’s blogging community and is accessible to both Victorian government and Catholic schools. Global2 is a space for online collaboration and provides opportunities for teachers and students to post and comment on blogs, collaborate on wikis, set up discussion forums and embed videos and images.

What is a blog?: this video is an introduction to blogging in plain english and was designed to give viewers a brief overview of what blogging is and how to participate.

Global2 is being used in schools to support teachers and students in the development of their digital literacy skills.

  • In this space teachers can support their students to use technology safely and responsibly as an important part of contemporary learning.
  • The use of Global2 can also provide greater connection between a class or an individual student with their families and the broader community.
  • Parents can have involvement in their child’s learning and student work is showcased on the site.
  • When blogs are made publicly available students can participate in learning communities - sharing and receiving knowledge, information and advice - from within their class, school and the public (dependent on privacy settings).
