Encouraging student innovation and creativity

The Department of Education and Training, in partnership with Swinburne and the Knox Innovation, Opportunity and Sustainability Centre (KIOSC) hosted the Melbourne Mini Maker Faire event on Friday 18 March and Saturday 19 March 2016.

The event was separated into two themes:
  • Mini Maker Faire Education Day @KIOSC: Students had the opportunity to explore a number of 'Making' activities in workshops run by fellow students, teachers and community members. Students had the opportunity to learn new skills, share what they have learned and show what they have made, and
  • Melbourne Mini Maker Faire @KIOSC: The Maker Faire was an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these 'makers' came to the Maker Faire to show what they have made, to share what they have learned and learn new skills.
